Russ Brown - Historic images

Here you will find processed and enhanced, original historic photographs from the American Library of Congress. These gorgeous and fascinating images date from the early 20th century and have been beautifully digitised, in many cases from original 8x10” glass negatives. Using modern digital processing, I have been able to create stunningly detailed images from originals which often looked less than perfect. (There is substantially more fine detail visible in the large, printed images, than on screen.) If you are interested in any of these amazing pictures plus many more, they are available on the Fine Art America website. For interest, I began colourising some of these images awhile back, however, the work is very time-consuming and with all the changes that happened soon after, I only ended up doing the two seen below.
